Ijazah is a certification of authenticity, where students successfully complete the recitation according to a specific chain of narration (Isnad) going back to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). To obtain an Ijazah in Qira’at from Al-Qur’an Institute, the student must first be a Hafiz (have memorized the entire Qur’an) with accuracy. Afterward, the student must complete the necessary courses and exercises in Tajweed and Qira’at under the supervision of a qualified Qari. The student can then apply for the Ijazah. A designated Shaykh (male) or Shaykha (female) will be assigned to listen to the student recite the Qur’an in its entirety, and the student will have to complete a final assessment exam. After successfully passing the evaluation, the Ijazah in Qira’at will be granted.
